Wandsworth Primary Schools' Consortium

The Kingston University Team

The University and SCITT Partnership

We work with Kingston University to offer a PGCE alongside our own QTS programme. The Kingston University team develop robust materials for the two Level 7 modules of our programme and we collaborate with them for regular review of module content in response to trainee feedback, outcomes and review of current research. Centre-based training sessions are delivered by SCITT at the St Mary's RC Primary School training base and are embedded into our SCITT programme. The SCITT team work closely with the University to mark and moderate all academic work related to these modules.

Dedicated administrative support is provided by the University to facilitate trainee enrolment, access to the Virtual Learning Environment, academic submissions and the presentation of module outcomes to the University Board. An assigned SCITT liaison facilitates the University and SCITT Partnership.

The SCITT Team

Wandsworth SCITT is led by our consortium partner schools. Leaders from these schools provide the strategic direction of the programme, ensure strong links are maintained across Wandsworth schools, Kingston University, the  Wandle Teaching School Hub (TSH) and other educational and community partners in our region.

Day to day 'operations' are delegated to the PGCE Course Director, Sam Steward, who oversees programme delivery and development, school placements and the pastoral support of trainees through the year.

Mentor training and  development is led by our Lead Mentor, Claire Welsh who works closely with the TSH and consortium partners to robustly review and develop practice.

Who teaches on Centre-Based Training (CBT) ?

The Centre-Based Training (CBT) has been developed by a range of experienced practitioners and subject specialists. As a consortium, we are able to partner with a wide range of colleagues and are not restricted to working within one organisation.  Our subject specialists range from senior lecturers at St Mary's and Roehampton University, consultants who have authored key texts in their subject areas and colleagues in our partner schools who are embedded in local subject networks. Many of our subject tutors are engaged in delivery of the Early Career Teacher (ECT) programme, enabling us to provide a  strong thread through the career pathway of our trainees.
